Elementary music classes (K-2) have been busy making beautiful music the first couple months of school! They have sang and played musical instruments while keeping a steady beat. Students have been creative with movement making for different songs that come from many cultures.
Grades (3-5) are learning to read notes and rhythms for the Christmas program and mass music. The students are beginning to learn 2 part choir pieces, reading (inflection) and singing with expression for performances, and serving the Tuesday masses once a month with the fabulous 3rd-5th grade choir.
Junior high music classes (6-8) recently found out their musical, Annie Jr. Currently, each junior high class has a choir/music period one day a week. Each class is beginning to learn and apply musical solfege syllables to vocal warm-ups. Junior high band students is learning music for their Christmas program while other 6th grade music students have formed a percussion ensemble for learning and playing rhythms. Some of our upcoming hits include:- “The Chalkboard Blues” and the “Groove Center” . 7th and 8th grade music students are playing piano, some of their most recent and upcoming tunes include: Moana’s chorus- “How Far I’ll Go”, “Hedwig’s Theme from Harry Potter”, and “Star Wars- Imperial March”.
