Fine Arts Night
Whew! December flew by, and it was a great time watching students perform at Holy Redeemer’s Annual Fine Arts Night. Thank you to our students in art, music, choir, and band for an enjoyable evening to kick off our Christmas season.
Several of our 5th-8th graders spent an afternoon caroling to nursing home residents at Holiday. Words cannot express how appreciative I was to see so many students show up to spread some holiday cheer to the residents. Thank you for sharing your musical talents with our community.
Now, as we embark on January we have junior high students participating in solo and ensemble, Winter Guard, solo and ensemble, choir, and preparing music for our Catholic School’s Week Mass at the end of the month. Also, students sing for our weekly masses on Tuesday at 8AM. You are always welcome to join us!!
Our Annie Jr. auditions took place on January 4th. Thank you to all those that auditioned for speaking roles in 6th-8th grade. Choosing the people that “win” the part is one of the most difficult parts of directing a musical. Also, our Fine Arts Night will be May 10th beginning at 5:30 for the art show, and 6:30 for the performance of Annie Jr.
Please note: it is now on Thursday, May 10th. We look forward to seeing you there and we will be sharing updates along the way.
Our Kindergarten-2nd grade will continue learning songs while keeping a steady beat, and hopefully sometime in March (which is the nationwide “Music in Our Schools Month”) parents will be invited into our classroom to see students show-off some of their musical skills.
3rd grade will be continuing to sing with choir, but will also start learning music with our MalMark Handchimes! I cannot wait!!!
4th grade will be starting their recorder journey at the end of the month! Parents, you should have received an email from me about the recorders-if not, please contact me.
5th grade will be introduced to our keyboard room. (Playing and teaching piano is definitely one of my favorite parts about Holy Redeemer’s music program). Students that might be interested in piano lessons in any grade are always welcome to contact me for details about finding a teacher.
Stay tuned for more updates about 3rd-5th grade!
6th grade is continuing with choir, Annie, percussion, and band. Along with Annie, we will learn about set design, choreography, and several musical theatre topics during the semester!
7th and 8th grade will be continuing with their keyboard skills which also help with developing fine motor skills. They are also going to be very important for our Jr. High Musical- Annie Jr.!
Finally, Clay Jones and Kyera North are our school representatives for the diocesan mass that will take place during Catholic School’s Week at the end of the month! Congratulations!!!
Thank you Holy Redeemer family for being supportive of the arts!
(Remember: our next Fine Arts night is May 10th beginning at 5:30 for our art show, and 6:30 for the 6th-8th grade performance of Annie Jr.).
We can’t wait to see you there!!!
